Alaya

Alaya, the eldest brother of the winery Atalaya is the ultimate expression of the Alicante Bouschet from Almansa. The elaboration of this wine is in charge of the Spanish-born Australian winemaker, Frank Gonzales. Production limited to 4000 bottles approx. Well-structured and with an original personality, it’s a powerful, silky wine. Excellent wine discribed by Jay Miller as “outstanding and very appealing”. It is pure elegance. This wine is made of grape from vines planted at 1000m altitude approximately, in one of the coldest places of the area, in poor soils. Selected and manually conducted vintage. The winemaking takes place in small tanks. While the malolactic fermentation begins in tanks, it inishes in new French oak barrels where it undergoes a 15-month ageing.
