Product Description
This wine is an extremely low production (two barrels) wine made from a single vineyard. This wine is made of 100% Godello from the Bierzo region. A white wine made to age, La Claudina exhibits the irm structure of a red wine.
Claudina is the name of the vineyard. It sets the standard for wines made from the Godello grape. This rich, profound, mineral-driven white wine is at once startlingly subtle and almost painfully intense. In structure and character it is more like a red wine than a white.
Raul uses 2700 litre barrels and 1225 litre barriques for vinification. The wine is then aged for 10-12 months in used French oak barrels, during which time there is stirring of the lees (batonnage) to enrich the wine’s aromas and texture during ageing and to give the wine a slight sense of oxidisation similar to wines made from Palomino grape variety.
