Valtuille Cova de la Raposa

La Cova de la Raposa is the name of a pre-phylloxera single vineyard located in the small village Valtuille in Bierzo wine region, with extremely low yields. This is an 85% Mencía wine blended with other local varietals such as 3% Alicante Bouschet,  2% Gros Cabernet, locally known as Bastardo, and the rest is a mix of other local grapes. The total production of this wine is 700 bottles per year. This wine displays a singular array of aromas, with outstanding finish and persistence. Pure elegance and delightful, a truly remarkable wine. Handpicked in the early hours, fermented in French oak barrels and aged also in French oak barrels for 20 months. This wine was not clarified or filtered prior to bottling. An ideal wine for cellaring, will only improve over time, maybe enjoyed for the next 20 to 25 years.
